| Order placed on | 5 business days | 7 business days | Calendar days |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | Monday of the next week | Wednesday of the next week | 7 to 9 |
| Tuesday | Tuesday of the next week | Thursday of the next week | 7 to 9 |
| Wednesday | Wednesday of the next week | Friday of the next week | 7 to 9 |
| Thursday | Thursday of the next week | Monday of the week after next | 7 to 11 |
| Friday | Friday of the next week | Tuesday of the week after next | 7 to 11 |
| Saturday or Sunday | Friday | Tuesday of the following week | 5 to 10 |

What changes the date: weekends, holidays and cutoffs
A 5-7 day window is long enough that it often includes a holiday. Each one moves the end of the window by one business day. Thanksgiving week is the usual trap: an order placed on the Monday of Thanksgiving week () uses Tuesday and Wednesday as business days 1 and 2, skips Thanksgiving, and finishes after the holiday: day 5 is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and day 7 the Thursday after, instead of Monday and Wednesday. Counted from the holiday itself: 3 business days after is , excluding United States (federal) holidays. 5 business days after is , excluding United States (federal) holidays.
The next one coming up: The next United States (federal) holiday is Veterans Day on , 20 days from today. All dates are on the holidays page and in the US federal holidays list, based on the OPM federal holiday schedule.
Cutoff times matter just as much. An order placed after the shop’s daily cutoff is handled the next business day. On a Friday evening, that means Monday.
5-7 business days for shipping
“Ships in 5-7 business days” and “arrives in 5-7 business days” are not the same promise. The first is the time before the parcel leaves; transit comes on top. The second covers the whole trip. Read the wording on the order page or the confirmation email.
USPS delivers Monday to Saturday, so some USPS estimates count Saturday. USPS is closed on federal holidays. UPS and FedEx publish their own holiday schedules. Our guide to business days in shipping covers carrier days in more detail.
5-7 business days for refunds and bank transfers
Card refunds and bank transfers are often quoted as “5-7 business days”. The count starts when the merchant or bank sends the money, not when you ask for it. Banks close on Federal Reserve holidays. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, federal offices close on the Friday before but the Federal Reserve Banks stay open; when it falls on a Sunday, the Fed closes on Monday. The dates are on the Federal Reserve holiday schedule.
