A business days calculator counts the number of working days between two dates after subtracting weekends and optional regional holidays. Set your start and end date, choose a region (US/CA/UK/EU), and toggle whether to include the start/end dates, weekends, or holidays.
Calendar days count every day on the calendar. Business days typically exclude Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Our tool can also include/exclude the start/end day to match your policy.
When a holiday falls on a weekend, many regions observe it on an adjacent weekday (e.g., Monday). Turn on “Use observed rules” to have the calculator exclude the observed weekday automatically.
Yes. Use Custom holidays to add dates like company shutdowns, local bank holidays, or events. Those dates will be excluded from the business-day count and can be exported to CSV.
We currently support holiday sets for the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, plus a generic EU set. For precise local rules, add custom dates or cross-check official calendars.
Set the same date for Start and End, then click a preset like Next 7 days and adjust until you find the first non-weekend, non-holiday date. Alternatively, set a short range and read the “Details” list—the first entry is your next business day.
If your agreement specifies business days, count forward using our tool with weekends/holidays excluded. If it specifies calendar days, leave weekends/holidays included. For invoicing platforms, see our recommendations on the Invoices page.
Use the calculator to check if pay dates land on a holiday or weekend. Many teams run payroll one or two business days earlier to avoid bank delays. Compare providers on our Payroll page.
Courts and agencies often specify business-day rules and observed holidays. Always verify local rules. You can find DIY and attorney-assisted services on our Legal deadlines page. This site is for general information only, not legal advice.
Many carriers define handling time in business days and exclude weekends/holidays from delivery estimates. Check cut-off times and carrier policies, and plan buffers around holidays. See tools on our Shipping & logistics page.
Yes. Click Download CSV to export the list of included dates and holiday labels. You can also copy a shareable link with your exact settings for team review.
Not automatically. If your team observes half-days (e.g., Christmas Eve after noon) or local closures, add those as custom holidays so the tool excludes them fully. For partial days, we recommend internal policy guidance.
Dates are interpreted based on your device’s local time zone. If your team operates in multiple regions, align on a source of truth (e.g., HQ time zone) and share links so everyone uses the same settings.
We follow common public/bank-holiday rules for each region, but local observances can vary by state, province, or council. Always verify for compliance-sensitive work and add custom holidays for anything not included.
Yes—pick kickoff and target dates to ensure your timeline excludes weekends/holidays. For execution, compare PM tools on our Projects page.
